Vertical Field’s innovative vertical farming systems were developed to address global issues surrounding food security and wellbeing in the wake of rapid urbanization.

The company strives to be at the forefront of the modern urban revolution, providing holistic and cutting-edge solutions that improve access to healthy, fresh, and consistent food supplies in city centers throughout the world.

Originally established in 2006, the company designed integrated vertical platforms for the indoor and outdoor smart landscaping sector, and quickly grew to international success with over 500 projects worldwide.

Today we bring together the best experts under one roof, developing holistic vertical solutions for urban farming.

Vertical Field aims to transform the urban ecosystem into a space of health, wellness, sustainability, and food security.

Alexey is a Managing Director of BIE. Alexey has over 12 years of experience in finance, management and business development, and contributes his vast expertise to the company’s activities and business management.. Mr. Pud is a certified public accountant in Israel and holds a BA in Economics and Business Management from Ben Gurion University, he is a graduate of Excellence program at Recanati Business School in Tel Aviv and owns an International Certificate in Corporate Finance from Columbia Business School.

Amit Adani has over 20 years of experience developing software systems.

Among his various roles he has worked in software design, development, and management in the Prime Minister’s Office and in the IDF’s technology units.

Amit was the head of software at Omnisys, co-founder and CTO of the start-up Octia-Technologies, and served as the system architect of an army project for IBM and Microsoft.

Amit holds a BA in computer science from Netanya Academic College.

Gilad has over 20 years of experience working as an agronomist for governmental organizations, NGO’s and commercial companies around the world as a consultant and in research and development roles. Some of his areas of expertise include intensive growing in greenhouses and open fields, irrigation, fertilization, creating growing protocols for various crops and varieties, developing innovative ag-tech tools and overseeing their proper field implementation. Gilad graduation from Hebrew University’s Faculty of Agriculture with a degree in soil and water sciences and environmental sciences.

MEGGIE ABECASIS VP Commercial Landscaping Verticalfield

Meggie Abecasis is the VP of Commercial at Vertical Field. She served as the CEO of Green Wall from 2016 until the company merger in 2020, where she led external investor recruitment and oversaw a 200% increase in sales. Previously, Meggie established a business community for the landscape design industry. Earlier in her career, she developed events and exhibitions in the lifestyle and design industries. She studied psychology at the Open University.

Ran Shahar joins the Vertical Field team with extensive finance experience at several of the largest energy corporations in Israel. Prior to working at Vertical Field, Shahar was the financial manager at Delek Menta and Delek Gas. Before that, he served at the financial manager at Tipa Corp, a company that develops compostable plastic solutions. Shahar is also an alumnus of Deloitte where he managed audit portfolios of leading corporations in the market.

Shimon is a chemical engineering expert who has been managing and advising industrial projects for over five decades. He currently serves as technical advisor and new innovations estimator at Beer Itzhak Energy, a position he has held since 2016.

Shimon lectures on topics such as: computer-aided design and drafting software; quality control and assurance, and project management. Shimon served active and reserve duty for decades in the IDF, fighting in the Six-Day War, War of Attrition, Yom Kippur War, and the First Israel-Lebanon War.

Prof. Oded Shoseyov is a faculty member at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Prof. Shoseyov’s research is in plant molecular biology protein engineering and nano-biotechnology where his group focuses on bio-inspired nanocomposite materials. He has authored and co-authored more than 200 scientific publications and is the inventor/co-inventor of 62 patents. Shoseyov is a TED speaker; his talk was translated to 21 languages with more than 1.5 million views.

Prof. Menachem Moshilion is a leading professor at the agriculture faculty of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He is plant pantologist with vast experience in cell biology; the impact of artificial lighting on growing methods; and genetics. He is a molecular physiologist interested in elucidating the molecular and cellular mechanisms controlling whole-plant water-use efficiency, water-potential homeostasis and crop productivity, under normal and abiotic stress conditions. His work primarily focuses on small membrane proteins which function as water channels – Aquaporins (AQPs).
